As we wrap up our two latest trade shows and before we initiate preparation for PTXi 2012 in Chicago, I took some time out to speak with a couple of the B.A.G. Corp. employees who attended the events. Jennifer, a customer service representative attended the Georgia show and Charlotte, who deals with new product development and sales, attended the first ever Texas Pack show in our back yard, Fort Worth, Texas. The ladies were happy to share some of their experiences with me.
A problem solver when it comes to bulk packaging, Jennifer strives to meet customer’s face-to-face and strengthen client relationships. Operating out of the corporate Dallas office, with customers spread all over the country, face-to-face meetings are sometimes difficult to arrange.
Jennifer describes trade shows as an opportunity to reach out in a more personal manner.
“I did enjoy seeing some of our current customers- it is always a pleasure to put a face with a name,” said Jennifer.
A seasoned pro when it comes to new applications and developing solutions. TexasPack brought Charlotte a customer in dire need of an efficient way to package and dispose of hazardous materials.
“I sat down with the customer and we got into the nitty-gritty of what his company needed,” said Charlotte.
Through her consultation with the customer, Charlotte learned enough to know that a variant of the cost-saving Waste Away™ Container would be the best fit.
“I am always thrilled to develop an application that truly makes a customer happy and it is even more rewarding when the interaction materializes into a high volume account,” said Charlotte.
Both shows have been deemed a success due to the significant interest received from several large multi-national companies as well as some prominent local companies. New industries also expressed interest in a variety of products. The DeWatering Super Sack® Container sparked curiosity in the eye’s of food scientists and biomedical engineers. So who knows what industry you will find B.A.G. Corp. in next?

I think it would be a cool idea to have one or two of the “non” sales/marketing staff attend one of these shows (close ones of course) so that we can get a better feel for what we do and how we can be effective “marketers” in our day-to-day lives.
BTW this is a great idea, it is always nice to have fresh ideas!
This post underlines two of my favorite parts of working trade shows, the personal interaction, and discovering new applications through various industries!
I love to going to trade shows. Connecting with new customers as well as the current ones, makes all the hard work worth while.
So true Anita, it’s hard work but well worth it!
